On April 24th 1915, commemorated worldwide by Armenians as Genocide Memorial Day, hundreds of Armenian leaders were murdered in Istanbul. An estimated one million had perished on 1915, while hundreds of thousands had become homeless and stateless refugees. My grandfather tells that his mother and father are seen as killed peoples. In all, it is estimated that up to a million and half Armenians perished at the hands of Ottoman and Turkish military and paramilitary forces and through atrocities intentionally inflicted to eliminate the Armenian demographic presence in Turkey.
